Kristen Faulkner has moved into the overall lead at the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women after stage 2 to Saltburn, which was won by Mara Roldan.
Kristen Faulkner (EF Education-Oatly) is the new leader of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women, taking the jersey from stage 1 winner Kim Le Court (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) at the end of a tough stage 2 to Saltburn.
Mara Roldan (Picnic-PostNL) soloed to victory on the stage, while Faulkner came home in a chasing group 18 seconds behind the Canadian youngster.
The overnight leader Le Court was a faller earlier in the stage and that incident didn’t help her prospects of hanging on to the jersey, as she reached the finish over a minute down.
In the overall standings, Faulkner holds a lead of four seconds over Riejanne Markus (Lidl-Trek) and 12 seconds over Ally Wollastan (FDJ-Suez). Cat Ferguson (Movistar) is fourth at 14 seconds, with Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ) fifth overall on the same time.
Faulkner also leads the points classification ahead of Le Court and she holds the Queen of the Mountains jersey with a two-point leader over Roldan.
Cat Ferguson remains the best young rider after stage 2, while FDJ-Suez have moved into the lead in the team classification.
