Sarah Gigante claimed her second summit win at the Giro d’Italia Women, conquering Monte Nerone on stage 7. But it was Elisa Longo Borghini who took over the maglia rosa with a bold attack, and now leads the GC by 22 seconds heading into the final stage.

Giro d'Italia Women 2025 Stage 7: Start time and expected finish

Neutralised start: 09.50
Expected finish: 14.30

What we said about Stage 7 on beforehand

Stage 7 is the Queen stage of this year’s Giro, a 157 km mountain test with nearly 3,800 metres of elevation gain and a summit finish atop Monte Nerone. The route starts in Fermignano and builds gradually, featuring three categorised climbs mid-stage before the final showdown. Monte Nerone itself is 14.6 km at 6.6%, but the last 8 km average over 8% and are brutally steep. The early climb to Pian di Trebbio softens the legs, but the real damage will be done on the final ascent. It’s a stage made for the pure climbers - and likely decisive for the overall victory.
