'I dream of seeing the Tour de France start from Norway' - Hushovd dares to bring Tour to Norway
2010 World champion and Uno-X Mobility general manager, Thor Hushovd, gave his thoughts after the Artic Race of Norway, from the jubilation of a first ever Tour stage to what awaits in the coming years for the future of Norwegian cycling as it continues its meteoric rise.

Since their first inception into the Tour de France, back in the 2023 season. Uno-X Mobility have enjoyed a solid and progressive rise, achieving some quite brilliant results including a first ever Tour stage with Jonas Abrahamsen in 2025, Hushovd speaking to Tuttobiciweb about the stage win said "I let my joy explode because winning a Tour stage is a true liberation."
That win perhaps, became even more sweeter for the team as Abrahamsen was a one of the first riders in the team when it came to fruition, eight years ago. In those eight years Uno-X also have a reputation for developing their homegrown talents, "The idea is to proceed step by step. I'm convinced we can find and train young riders who will become great cyclists."
Hushovd stated "It's still a young team, about to complete its eighth year of existence. But it has never achieved such brilliant results as this year, with a stage win and a sixth place in the general classification at the Tour. No Norwegian has ever climbed so high in the rankings, so I would say we managed to race as protagonists for three weeks." Tobias Halland Johannessen was the rider who achieved the aforementioned top six in the general classification, building on a solid 2025 season the Norwegian has had so far.
With the popularity of cycling blossoming in Norway and with the success of both the Tour of Norway and the Arctic Race of Norway (ASO organised) Hushovd stated "I dream of seeing the Tour de France start from Norway, he said. "I think this is possible. We must convince ASO, it won't be easy, but I believe it's feasible. If we manage to organise a great start in Oslo or elsewhere, cycling will literally explode."
Hushovd exclaimed further, "We saw this in Denmark in 2022, but I sincerely believe the grand start would be even more popular here. We are certain this will happen because Uno-X Mobility will still be here in 2030, 2040, and even 2050. Everyone wants to continue seeing our team at the start of the world's most important races, and all of Norway will work to make its riders race."
After Norway hosted the 2017 UCI World Championships in the west coast city of Bergen, the crowds were spectacular as Peter Sagan pipped the Norwegian Alexander Kristoff. Those scenes for many perhaps inspired the latest generation of top Norwegian talents coming through the professional ranks in the 2020's.
