Ineos on top of the wrong Tour de France leaderboard
Although Ineos celebrated a brilliant stage win with Thymen Arensman, the British team can't yet call this a successful Tour de France. There is, however, one ranking they are leading - though it’s not exactly a source of pride.

With Dave Brailsford back at the helm, the team currently tops the standings when it comes to fines handed out during this Tour de France. That unwanted lead is largely due to the incident on the Col du Peyresourde during stage 14, when the Ineos team car hit a spectator. The team was fined 5,000 CHF – the largest penalty issued so far in this year’s race.
In total, 18,400 CHF in fines has been handed out. Seven teams remain untouched by race commissaires and have yet to receive a single penalty: Team Picnic – PostNL, Uno-X Mobility, Bahrain – Victorious, Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, Intermarché – Wanty, Arkéa – B&B Hotels and UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
