Jonathan Milan seals Lidl-Trek contract extension until 2029
The 2025 Tour de France green jersey winner has committed his future to the team after a very successful nearly two years so far.

Lidl-Trek have announced that Jonathan Milan has signed a contract extension which will see him stay with the team until the end of the 2029 season.
Since his transfer to the team from Bahrain-Victorious for the 2024 season, Milan has established himself as one of the best sprinters in the world.
19 professional victories since his move, including three Giro d’Italia stage wins, and the points classification in 2024, as well as two stages and the Green jersey at the 2025 Tour de France, illustrate how integral Milan has become to Lidl-Trek’s winning culture in recent times.
“The atmosphere at Lidl-Trek is truly special, the people here have quickly become like a second family to me, and that makes a huge difference when you’re giving everything on the bike,” said Milan in an official statement from Lidl-Trek. “We have already shared some incredible moments and I am really proud of what we have achieved together so far: multiple Grand Tour stage victories, leader’s jerseys, and always fighting together as one Team."
“I feel really lucky that I get to race together with this group of riders and I am constantly amazed by the work of my teammates and thankful for what they do to help me try to cross the line first. I truly believe that we can keep raising the bar and chase even bigger goals together,” Milan added.
Lidl-Trek General Manager Luca Guercilena expressed his satisfaction with securing Milan's services for the long term. “Before we signed Jonny in 2024, we already knew he was a huge talent for the future, but in the two years since he has surpassed even our high expectations,” said Guercilena.
Two of Milan's key lead-out men, Edward Theuns and Simone Consonni, also have contracts with the team through until 2027, and Lidl-Trek hope that the riders can build upon the foundations that they have laid out over the last two successful seasons. Mathias Vacek also recently signed a contract extension with Lidl-Trek through until 2029.
“Jonny has integrated seamlessly with the Team, and together with his leadout train he has created one of the most effective sprint set-ups in the peloton. What he has achieved in just two seasons is remarkable, and with four more years to come we are excited to see just how high he can climb," said Guercilena.
"His raw power and finishing speed are extraordinary, but equally impressive is his humility and the way he values his teammates. We are proud to continue this journey with him and confident that even greater victories lie ahead," Guercilena added.
Milan is currently racing in Germany at the Deutschland Tour, where he narrowly finished 2nd to Matthew Brennan (Visma | Lease a Bike) on stage 1, but sits in a strong position just one second behind the race leader, Danny van Poppel (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe), in the overall standings ahead of Friday's stage 2.
