Vuelta a España 2025: Standings after stage 16 - Vingegaard retains red after shortened stage
Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) remains the overall leader of the Vuelta a España after stage 16 was shortened by 8km due to protests on the final climb to Castro de Herville. Egan Bernal (Ineos) was the stage winner ahead of fellow escapee Mikel Landa (Soudal-QuickStep).

Vingegaard finished with his GC rivals to remain 48 seconds clear of João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG). Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) is third overall at 2:38, with Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) fourth at 3:10.
Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) moves up to fifth overall after Felix Gall (Decathlon-AG2R) lost almost a minute on the red jersey group.
Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) maintains his commanding lead in the points classification, while Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) is 22 points clear of Vingegaard in the mountains classification.
Pellizzari leads the best young rider classification and UAE Team Emirates-XRG - winner of seven stages so far - lead Visma | Lease a Bike in the team standings.
