Vuelta a España 2025: Standings after stage 5 - Vingegaard back in red but UAE fight back
Jonas Vingegaard is back in the red jersey of the Vuelta a España after his Visma | Lease a Bike finished second in the team time trial behind UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the stage seven seconds ahead of Visma | Lease a Bike and nine clear of Lidl-Trek. Previous leader David Gaudu's Groupama-FDJ squad came in 24 seconds down in ninth.
In the overall standings, Vingegaard is eight seconds clear of Juan Ayuso, with João Almeida and Marc Soler on the same time as their UAE teammate. Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) is fifth at nine seconds and Gaudu is now sixth at 16 seconds.
Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) remains in the points jersey, while Joel Nicolau (Caja Rural) continues as king of the mountains. Ayuso is the white jersey of best young rider, and UAE Team Emirates-XRG now lead the team classification.
