Lidl-Trek name 'ambitious' Tour de France team around Milan and Skjelmose
Lidl-Trek have revealed their eight-rider roster for the 2025 Tour de France, with Mattias Skjelmose targeting the general classification and Jonathan Milan making his Tour debut as the team's sprinter.

"We have an ambitious Tour de France team for 2025 with multiple goals that we want to fulfil over the upcoming three weeks of racing in France," said Lidl-Trek Sport Director Steven de Jongh in the team statement released on Monday.
The team's sprint strategy centres around Milan, who will be supported by an experienced lead-out train featuring Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns, and Simone Consonni. The 24-year-old Italian will be particularly focused on the opening stage in Lille, which offers the rare opportunity for the sprinters to claim the first yellow jersey of the Tour.
"There is the opportunity to win the first yellow jersey of the race and Jonny [Milan] will have his lead out train with him," De Jongh said. "We have seen how well this group works together and they will take care of the lead out."
American Quinn Simmons joins the Lidl-Trek squad fresh off an impressive stage win at the Tour de Suisse and will serve as the team's "dedicated puller" according to De Jongh. "He has to ride a lot of kilometres in front to make it possible to have a sprint," he added.
Latvian veteran Toms Skujins, making his seventh Tour appearance, will play a crucial supporting role for both captains. "Toms will do final positioning and he will also take care of Mattias," said De Jongh.
The line-up features an exciting debutant in 22-year-old Belgian Thibau Nys, who will make both his Tour de France and Grand Tour debut. "There are definitely stages along the way that can suit him," De Jongh noted about the young talent.
"The complete group has not raced a lot together, but I am confident that we can make it work and have a great race and keep the momentum from an incredible Giro d'Italia going."
Stuyven brings the most Tour experience to the team with eight participations, while Skujins has competed six times and Theuns four times. Consonni returns for his second Tour appearance after making his debut in 2020.
As was slated since the start of the season, there is no place for Mads Pedersen, who has enjoyed a remarkable 2025 campaign to date. The Dane has won Gent-Wevelgem, four stages at the Giro d'Italia and his national title this season.
