For the second year running, the Dauphiné visits Saint-Priest — this time as the start town for Stage 5, after last year’s crash-marred finish. At 183km with 1,800 metres of elevation, it’s the flattest stage of the race and likely the last chance for the sprinters. Still, with most of the climbing in the second half and the Côte des Quatre Vents peaking just under 30km from the line, it’s not guaranteed. The breakaway will need a strong lead, but the sprinters’ teams will have time to organise the chase before the finish in Mâcon.
