Route
The 192.7 kilometre Figueira Champions Classic starts and finishes in Figueira da Foz, with a relatively calm opening that helps a break form before the first classified climb, Brenha, which is not selective.
After 103 kilometres, the race hits a three lap local circuit featuring two short, steep climbs, Rua Parque Florestal and Enforca Cães. With Enforca Cães cresting just 5.7 kilometres from the finish on the final lap, the finale suits puncheurs and long range attacks over a pure sprint.

Defending champion António Morgado lines up in strong form after an impressive Spanish campaign and could again benefit from tactical freedom within UAE Team Emirates-XRG. João Almeida is another major home hope after finishing second at the Volta Comunitat Valenciana.
Jarno Widar makes his professional debut and is well suited to the short, steep climbs, while Marc Hirschi will look to start his season strongly after a quieter Mallorca. Other riders to watch include Alex Aranburu, Haimar Etxeberria and Richard Carapaz.
