Giro dell'Emilia Women
The Giro dell’Emilia Internazionale Donne Elite has been part of the calendar since 2014 and has quickly grown into a highlight of the Italian autumn classics. The 2025 edition takes place on 4 October and, even with the European Championships pulling away some major contenders, the showdown on San Luca remains one of the most anticipated races of the late season.
A women’s edition of the Giro dell’Emilia has been part of the calendar since 2014. In little more than a decade it has grown into one of Italy’s most respected one-day races. The route mirrors part of the men’s event and, like the classic edition, concludes with the decisive ascent of San Luca in Bologna.
The women’s peloton has already seen dominant figures emerge. Elisa Longo Borghini has taken multiple wins and set the standard on these climbs. International contenders also view the race as a valuable test in the autumn, where the steep gradients and tactical finale bring only the strongest to the front.
Now classified as a UCI 1.Pro race, it attracts a solid international field each year. Within just over a decade it has secured a clear place on the autumn calendar and is recognised as a valuable test on the climb of San Luca.
