The route
The 2026 Milano-Torino route is defined by a simple but demanding finale built around the iconic Superga climb. After a largely flat run from the outskirts of Milan towards Turin, the race only truly ignites in the closing phase. The peloton will face the Superga twice, a climb of 4.9 kilometres at an average gradient of 9.1 percent, with ramps exceeding 11 percent in the final section.
The first ascent comes with 24 kilometres remaining, immediately followed by a descent that offers little recovery before the decisive second climb begins. Positioning will be crucial, as the narrow roads and steep gradients naturally split the field. While early breakaways may form on the flat approach, the demanding double ascent makes it unlikely they will survive.
The race concludes in spectacular fashion at the Basilica di Superga, a finish that consistently rewards explosive climbers with strong punch in the final kilometre.

Favourites
Tom Pidcock enters Milano-Torino as one of the standout favourites, bringing sharp early season form despite an unlucky Strade Bianche. His explosive acceleration makes him particularly dangerous on steep gradients like the Superga, especially in the final kilometre where the race is often decided.
Giulio Pellizzari has emerged as a serious contender after strong performances this season, showing clear progression and confidence on climbing terrain. Jan Christen also arrives with momentum, having already secured wins and podiums this year, underlining his ability to compete at the front in demanding races.
Among the outsiders, Lorenzo Finn and Cian Uijtdebroeks offer climbing depth, while Richard Carapaz continues to build form and could benefit from an aggressive race scenario. Derek Gee-West is another interesting name, making his debut in a one-day race for Lidl-Trek after a solid UAE Tour.
