Route
The Tour of Flanders 2026 covers 278.2 km from Antwerp to Oudenaarde, with a clear split between a flat opening and a brutal second half. The first 140 km allow the race to settle before the decisive phase begins with the first ascent of the Oude Kwaremont. From there, the climbs come in relentless succession, including the Eikenberg, Molenberg, Berendries and Valkenberg, gradually wearing down the peloton.
The real selection typically begins around 60 km from the finish, when the riders tackle the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg for the second time. The Koppenberg, with gradients over 20%, adds further chaos, followed by the Taaienberg and Oude Kruisberg.
The race is usually decided on the final combination of the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg. After the last climb, 12 km of flat roads lead to the finish, where gaps are rarely closed due to the race’s selective nature.

Favourites
The standout favourite for the 2026 edition is Tadej Pogačar, who has already won the race twice and arrives in dominant form. His ability to attack on the Oude Kwaremont and his strong team support make him the rider to beat.
His main rival is Mathieu van der Poel, a three time winner with an exceptional record in Flanders. Despite a minor setback at Milan Sanremo, his recent solo victory at E3 confirms he is in top shape.
Wout van Aert remains a major contender, driven by the ambition to finally win his home Monument. Backed by a strong team, he has the depth to challenge tactically.
Remco Evenepoel adds intrigue on debut, while Mads Pedersen brings resilience and consistency. Together, they form one of the strongest and most unpredictable lineups in recent history.
