San Sebastian Klasikoa 2025
02.08
Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) claimed the biggest one-day victory of his career by winning the 2025 Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa with a decisive solo move. The Italian attacked on the final climb of the Murgil Tontorra and held off a late chase from Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates-XRG). Earlier, Ciccone and Isaac del Toro had broken clear after Primož Roglič ignited the race on the Erlaitz climb. Christen finished second at 9 seconds, with Maxim Van Gils taking third from a reduced sprint group.
What we said beforehand
The Donostia San Sebastián Klasikoa features a 211km route with six classified climbs and 3,912 metres of elevation gain. The course includes key ascents like Jaizkibel, Erlaitz and Murgil-Tontorra, with the final summit just 8km from the finish. Riders enter the race in varying form, some coming straight from the Tour de France, others preparing for the Vuelta a España. A demanding profile and mixed start list make it one of the most unpredictable races on the calendar.
