Schwalbe Women's One Day Classic 2026
21.01
The Schwalbe Women’s One Day Classic took place on 21 January 2026, contested over a 94.2 kilometre course in the Barossa. Last year’s winner Clara Copponi had set the standard in the inaugural edition, and the twelve lap circuit around Tanunda again delivered a fast and aggressive race where sprinters could make an early statement. This time, it was Maggie Coles Lyster who took an unexpected victory, finishing ahead of Santos Tour Down Under Women overall winner Noemi Rüegg.
Route
The Schwalbe Women’s One Day Classic serves up a fast and open circuit in the Barossa, built for riders who thrive on rhythm and repeated accelerations. Twelve laps of an eight point five kilometre loop around Tanunda set the tone, with wide roads and flowing corners keeping the speed high from the start.
The route heads out along Basedown Road, sweeps right onto Thiele Road, then cuts across Bethany Road before swinging back towards town on Barossa Valley Way. Each pass through Murray Street tightens the tension a little more.
With no major climbs but nowhere to hide, the race is shaped by positioning and nerve, and the final run through the centre of Tanunda should produce a hard fought sprint to the line.
