Surf Coast Classic 2026
29.01
The 2026 Men’s Surf Coast Classic was set for Thursday, January 29, a 157km race from Lorne to Torquay built around exposed coastal roads, an inland climb and a fast finish. Instead, it has been cancelled, following heightened bushfire danger and volatile weather conditions in the Great Ocean Road region. Organisers said evacuation routes needed to stay clear and emergency resources focused on public safety after talks with Victoria Police and emergency services. Tobias Lund Andresen’s title defence will have to wait.
Route
The 2026 Men's Surf Coast Classic begins in Lorne with a challenging 10km uphill climb towards Dean Marsh. Riders then navigate rolling roads through the Surf Coast Shire, manoeuvring crucial corners on the slightly downhill approach to Torquay. As they cross Spring Creek and descend Anderson Street, the peloton will turn onto The Esplanade, setting the stage for an exhilarating beachside sprint finish.
