Tim Merlier (Soudal-QuickStep) claimed victory in a crash-marred stage 3 of the Tour de France, narrowly beating Jonathan Milan in a tense sprint finish in Dunkerque. The day was overshadowed by the heavy crash and abandonment of green jersey Jasper Philipsen, while Remco Evenepoel also went down in the final kilometres.
