Jonathan Milan powered to victory on stage 8 of the Tour de France, winning an uphill sprint in Laval ahead of Wout van Aert and Kaden Groves. The Italian also reclaimed the green jersey. Tim Merlier lost his chance due to a late mechanical. GC contenders stayed safe, with Pogačar retaining his 54-second lead over Evenepoel.

After several hilly days, stage 8 offers relief for the sprinters with a flat route from Saint-Méen-Le-Grand to Laval. Mostly sheltered from the wind, it’s set up for a bunch sprint - though the final kilometre features a false flat that could shape the outcome.
