Juan Sebastián Molano won the Tour of Oman opener in a bunch sprint, sealing UAE Team Emirates XRG’s seventh victory of the season. An early break with Patryk Goszczurny, José Luis Faura and Alex Díaz was caught with 22km to go as Alpecin-Premier Tech and UAE helped set up the finale. Alpecin delivered Gerben Thijssen perfectly, but Molano surged down the outside and held off Fernando Gaviria on the line.
