Christophe Laporte kicked off his 2026 season with a stage 1 win at Ruta Del Sol, sprinting to victory in Pizarra after a well timed Visma lead out. Victor Campenaerts featured in the early break and is set to take the mountains jersey, while a crash with 10 km to go added chaos to the run in. Laporte takes the leader’s jersey into stage 2, which looks like another chance for the sprinters.
