Stage 3 Vuelta a España 2025

25.08

David Gaudu claimed stage 3 of the Vuelta a España with a daring late move, diving into the final corner to out-sprint Mads Pedersen. The technical finish in Ceres, with three sharp bends in the last kilometre, proved decisive as Gaudu took the tightest line to victory. Jonas Vingegaard finished third and retains the overall lead on equal time with Gaudu. Lidl-Trek had controlled the race for most of the day, but Pedersen was unable to capitalise on his team’s work in the finale.

What we said beforehand

Stage 3 is the final full day in Italy and the second shortest of the race at just 139km. Classified as a medium mountain stage, it ends with a 10km uphill drag to Ceres. Ideal terrain for puncheurs and strong sprinters. Whether it's a breakaway or a Lidl-Trek-led chase, riders like Mads Pedersen will be eyeing a big result.
