Stage 7 Vuelta a España 2025

29.08

Juan Ayuso bounced back from his GC disappointment with a brilliant solo victory on stage 7 of the Vuelta a España. The 22-year-old attacked the breakaway on the final climb to Cerler and rode the last 12km alone to secure UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s third straight win. Behind him, Marco Frigo and Raúl García Pierna chased in vain. Torstein Træen held onto the red jersey after another brutal day in the Pyrenees.

What we said beforehand

Stage 7 is the queen stage of the 2025 Vuelta, packing over 4,400 metres of climbing into a brutal day across the Pyrenees. Four major ascents, including the Port del Cantó and a summit finish in Cerler, will shape both the GC and the mountains classification. With steep ramps, shifting gradients and endless fatigue, it’s a day built for the pure climbers and jersey hunters alike.
