Noemi Rüegg won the opening stage of La Vuelta Femenina with a powerful uphill sprint in Salvaterra de Miño, taking the first red jersey of the race. The wet and technical finale caused chaos, with a crash inside the final 10km splitting the peloton before the front group came back together. Rüegg proved too strong in the final metres, beating Lotte Kopecky and Franziska Koch to claim her third WorldTour victory of 2026.
