Magdeleine Vallieres stunned the favourites by seizing victory in the elite women’s World Championships road race in Kigali. After joining a decisive break of ten riders with 35km to go, she proved strongest on the final cobbled climb, dropping Niamh Fisher-Black and Mavi García. The 24-year-old Canadian held her lead to the line, claiming just the second win of her career.
