The battle between the Women's WorldTour elite continues in to the prelude for the two remaining grand tours, the Tour de Suisse Women. Our creators Bence Czigelmajer and Lukas Knöfler are here to rank their contenders. Who will they give five stars to, will it be Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez), Marlen Reusser (Movistar) or someone else?
The 2025 Tour de Suisse Women runs from June 12-15, and involves some stinging climbs, which will only suit the GC contenders even further. Demi Vollering will be aiming to conintue her 2025 victory romp, whilst it's a homecoming for Marlen Reusser, back in her homeland after a strong GC display earlier on in the season at the Vuelta España Femenina. It's another homecoming, this time for Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly) who lines-up in her first race since a DNF at La Flèche Wallonne Féminine.
"Demi Vollering arrives at her quasi-home courses on the next stop of the UCI Women’s WorldTour as FDJ-Suez’s Dutch superstar prepares extensively in the Swiss Alps between the races. Although there is no explicit mountain top finish in this race, which would make her even more of an undisputed favourite, I believe the results of the past few weeks lead us to no other conclusion. The route of the Tour de Suisse Women will also favour rouleurs - Cedrine Kerbaol, one of the specialists of downhills in the women's peloton, will certainly enjoy the parcours, being a strong candidate for a podium finish, while Marlen Reusser, winner of Vuelta a Burgos, is in the best form of her life. Overall, a close race is expected, where the top positions could be determined by bonus seconds."
"Although there are no mountaintop finishes, Vollering ought to be the strongest on stages 2 and 4 which I see as decisive for GC. Stage 1 plays even more to her strengths, but since there are >60 km from the Jaunpass to the finish, I think many riders will be able to return after the climbs there."
The verdict is in: and our creators are unanimous. Both back Vollering to take commanding victory at the Tour de Suisse.
There is a slight difference in their opinion on who are their 4 star favorites with both Bence and Lukas picking Marlen Reusser (Movistar), but they differ their opinion, with Niewiadoma (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) for Lukas and Cedrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) for Bence!
