2026 Volta ao Algarve start list - Almeida, Ayuso, Lipowitz feature in the battle for yellow
The 2026 Volta ao Algarve begins in Vila Real de Santo António on February 18 and concludes after five stages in Malhão on February 22.
In total, there are 24 teams on the start line, each fielding seven riders, resulting in a total peloton of 168 riders.
There are twelve out of eighteen WorldTour teams on the start line. These include: Alpecin-Premier Tech, Decathlon CMA CGM, EF Education EasyPost, Ineos Grenadiers, Jayco Alula, Lidl-Trek, Lotto-Intermarché, NSN, Picnic-PostNL, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Soudal Quick-Step, and UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
There are three ProTour teams in Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, Pinarello-Q36.5 and Tudor. Meanwhile, nine Portuguese continental teams feature, including: Anicolor/Campicarn, Aviludo-Louletano-Loulé, Credibom/LA Alumínios/Marcos Car, Efapel, Feira dos Sofás-Boavista, Feirense-Beeceler, GI Group Holding-Simoldes-UDO, Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua, and Team Tavira.
João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek) and Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) are among the names on the provisional start list.
