Amanda Spratt to retire at the end of 2026 season after fifteen year professional career
The 38-year-old is one of the more decorated riders in the peloton, accumulating 21 professional victories over the course of a professional career that began in 2012, and has spent the last three seasons at Lidl-Trek.

Amanda Spratt will retire at the end of the 2026 season, marking a distinguished professional career spanning 15 years.
Known for her climbing prowess, the three-time Australian champion has twice finished third overall at the Giro d’Italia women in 2018 and 2019, also winning a stage in the 2018 edition. That same year, the Australian finished runner-up to Anna van der Breggen in an attritional edition of the road race world championships in Innsbruck, Austria.
More recently, Spratt was part of the Australian team that won the mixed relay team time trial world championships in Kigali, Rwanda, in September 2025.
Additionally, Spratt is the record holder for most victories at her home stage race, the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, where the Australian has won the general classification on three occasions. The Santos Women’s Tour Down Under is where Spratt will kick off her 2026 season, her last as a professional.
Spratt featured on the Domestique Hotseat in June and discussed her proud but painful push through the professional ranks, and why the sport feels “like chalk and cheese” compared to when she began.
The Australian remains as motivated as ever heading into the new season, and has acknowledged her hunger for a first victory since 2020 as a perfect goal to target alongside supporting her teammates.
“I am still motivated and still training hard ahead of the 2026 season. I don’t want my career to just fizzle, I want to keep putting the effort in. I am still really motivated, and I still love what I do so, I want to go out on a good note,” said Spratt in an official statement released by Lidl-Trek following the news of her impending retirement at the end of 2026.
“Of course, I would love to win a race, I haven’t done that in a long time, but mostly, I would just love, over the next year, to be a really valued team member and contribute to some big results for my teammates. I think we have built an exciting group and we have a really good short and longer term vision which is something that really excites me,” added Spratt.
The Australian will embark on her fourth season with Lidl-Trek in 2026 before hanging up her wheels, and acknowledged the support she has received throughout her career.
"I am really grateful for the people I've had around me throughout my career, and as it comes to a close with Lidl-Trek, I think it's important to acknowledge that. Surrounding myself with good people has been super important and is something that has always made the difference for me," said Spratt.
