Bahrain rule out Roglic move after confirmed Red Bull departure
Primož Roglič will leave Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe at the end of the season and intends to continue racing in 2027, but Bahrain Victorious have told Domestique they are not interested in signing the Slovenian.

Primož Roglič’s search for a new team continues after Bahrain Victorious ruled out a move for the four time Vuelta a España winner.
Ralph Denk, team manager of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, confirmed last week that Roglič will not remain with the German team beyond 31 December. His departure ends months of speculation about his future with the squad and the possibility that he could retire at the end of the season.
Roglič, however, plans to continue his career in 2027.
“Primož is a true sportsman and wants to continue, so I congratulate him,” Denk told Ciclo21. “He has had a fantastic time with us. It is also clear to me that his journey with our team ends on 31 December.”
Denk added that Roglič remains fully focused on the Vuelta a España before turning his attention to the next stage of his career.
“He wants to continue as a rider,” Denk said. “That shows he is a genuine sportsman and that he still loves this sport, which is truly admirable.”
The Slovenian joined Red Bull in 2024 from Jumbo-Visma, with victory at that year’s Vuelta a España standing as his biggest achievement for the German team.
Bahrain deny interest
MARCA had reported that Bahrain Victorious were among the teams being considered as a possible destination for Roglič. However, the team has since told Domestique that it is not interested in signing him.
That removes one of the potential options from the market. Bahrain have a strong Slovenian connection through general manager Milan Eržen, but the team is not pursuing a deal with Roglič.
The focus now shifts to which teams can offer the 36-year-old the sporting role he is believed to want.
Roglič is, according to MARCA, expected to prioritise a project where he can remain an important leader, receive support for his main objectives and have a clear influence on his racing programme.
His next contract is likely to be shaped by sporting ambitions rather than the need simply to extend his career.
One more Tour de France attempt
A return to the Tour de France is believed to be one of Roglič’s main objectives for 2027.
The Tour remains the major missing victory on his Grand Tour record. Roglič has won the Giro d’Italia and four editions of the Vuelta a España, but overall success in France has continued to elude him.
His closest opportunity came in 2020, when he lost the yellow jersey to Tadej Pogačar in the decisive time trial to La Planche des Belles Filles.
Any team interested in Roglič would therefore need to decide whether it can offer him a leadership role at the Tour and build part of its programme around that ambition.
According to MARCA, Roglič is also looking to change his preparation for the 2027 season. He reportedly wants to spend fewer days away from home at training camps and manage his workload more carefully.
The aim would be to reduce fatigue during the season and arrive at his main targets in better physical condition.
