Can €100M new sponsor Netcompany bring Ineos back to the top?

The Times and The Guardian have reported that Danish IT supplier Netcompany is set to become the title sponsor of Ineos Grenadiers.

According to reports from The Times and The Guardian, Ineos Grenadiers' new title sponsor, which will be confirmed later in the 2026 season, is the Danish IT company Netcompany.

This follows reports from a few days prior, when Cyclingnews and La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the British team had secured a new title sponsor with a Danish software brand in a deal that is worth €100 million over five years.

Netcompany is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, but also has offices in the United Kingdom and across multiple other nations.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s British multinational chemical company, Ineos, took over as title sponsor of the team mid-way through the 2019 season, replacing British broadcaster and telecommunications company Sky.

The team went on to win the Tour de France that season with Egan Bernal, but has not won the race since, despite having dominated it during the 2010s with seven victories in eight editions from 2012 to 2019.

The team rebranded as Ineos Grenadiers the following year, initially to promote a Grenadier 4x4 vehicle developed by Ineos Automotive, and proceeded to win the Giro d'Italia in 2020 and 2021 with Tao Geoghegan Hart and Egan Bernal, respectively. The latter remains the last Grand Tour win for Ineos.

The reports indicate that Ineos will still hold ownership of the team, with both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford set to remain involved with the British team following the arrival of the new sponsor, which is set to be officially announced ahead of the Tour de France. TotalEnergies is also expected to remain involved.

Ineos Grenadiers and TotalEnergies announced a jersey partnership in 2025, and the global integrated energy company will end their title sponsorship of the French ProTeam following the 2026 season after agreeing to part ways with SA Vendée Cyclisme.

This could enable the partnership with TotalEnergies to deepen further, offering continued and potentially increased support as the team pursues its top-level ambitions.

Ineos signalled their intent last winter, signing two stars of the 2025 Tour de France in Oscar Onley, who finished 4th and Kévin Vauquelin, who was the best French rider in 7th after the British team missed out on a top-10 finish at the French Grand Tour last year.

2026 has been a positive year so far with nine victories, including 4 at the WorldTour level. Speaking at Paris-Nice after the team won the team time trial stage, new Head of Racing, Geraint Thomas, stated to CyclingProNet that “We’ve had a rough couple of years, but we’re on the way back.”

With the expected arrival of a Danish sponsor in Netcompany, as well as the potential step-up of French sponsor TotalEnergies, the reports suggest that the team may also look beyond British talent when it comes to rebuilding their squad.

French sensation Paul Seixas' future is under speculation with his Decathlon CMA CGM contract expiring at the end of 2027, with UAE Team Emirates-XRG reportedly already putting the steps in place to try and secure the Frenchman's signature.

Ineos currently has three French riders in Vauquelin, Axel Laurance and National champion Dorian Godon, whilst 20-year-old Peter Øxenberg is the sole Danish representative in the WorldTour side.

The landscape in cycling is constantly changing, and with the recent dominance of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, teams are fighting hard to compete. Teams such as Decathlon CMA CGM, Lidl-Trek and Red-Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe have seen an increasing amount of ambition from sponsorships in recent seasons in an attempt to compete at the highest level.

Meanwhile, both Visma | Lease a Bike and EF Education-EasyPost have publicly confirmed in recent weeks that they are actively looking for new sponsorships to come on board.
