Cédric Vasseur removed from role as Cofidis appoint new manager
Former pro cyclist Raphaël Jeune has been named the new general manager of Cofidis with immediate effect, the team announced on Monday. Jeune replaces Cédric Vasseur, who departs after eight years at the helm.

Cofidis have been enduring a difficult 2025 season so far, with the French team currently facing the prospect of relegation from the UCI WorldTour at the end of the promotion and relegation cycle as the team sits 20th in the UCI rankings, two positions off of safety. The team has had no real notable results in the 2025 season apart from Alex Aranburu's sprint victory in the Tour Down Under and his controversial win at Itzulia Basque Country.
L'Equipe reported on Monday afternoon that Vasseur had been relieved of his duties as team manager, and shortly afterwards Cofidis announced the arrival of Jeune in his place.
"Cofidis has been a unique sponsor in the peloton for 29 years. Today, we are very happy to welcome Raphaël Jeune to help write a new chapter in cycling at Cofidis," said Gilles Sauret, President of Cofidis Group. "His experience, in-depth knowledge of international cycling, and managerial skills will be invaluable assets as we pursue our ambition to shine globally."
The appointment of Jeune marks a significant change for the French team, which had been led by Vasseur since 2017. During Vasseur's tenure, Cofidis returned to the UCI World Tour in 2020 and claimed notable victories, including two stage wins at the 2023 Tour de France which came through Victor Lafay's surprise and Ion Izagirre's breakaway bingo jackpot.
The newly-appointed Jeune expressed enthusiasm about his new role: "I am honoured to join the Cofidis team, which embodies ambitions and values I am particularly attached to: commitment, teamwork, competitiveness, and performance. This is a team I've had the chance to be around, and I know its strength and professionalism. My aim is to continue to help it grow by capitalizing on its talents and guiding it towards new collective successes."
The outgoing Vasseur reflected on his time with the squad: "I leave Cofidis with a lot of emotion and pride after intense years. I want to thank Cofidis Group, the riders, and all the staff for their trust and dedication throughout these years. I wish Team Cofidis many more beautiful and great victories."
Jeune's role now appears to be rebuilding the Cofidis team with the likelihood that they are relegated to the UCI ProTour.
