Charlotte Kool makes mid-season Fenix-Deceuninck transfer

Fenix-Deceuninck has confirmed the signing of Dutch sprinter Charlotte Kool, who joins the team with immediate effect on a contract running through the end of 2028. The 26-year-old leaves Picnic PostNL after three and a half seasons, with both teams describing the transfer as the result of constructive and smooth negotiations.

Kool has established herself as one of the top sprinters in the women’s peloton. In 2024 she claimed two stage victories at the Tour de France Femmes and spent two days in the yellow jersey. While Fenix-Deceuninck already boasts strong climbing and Spring Classics units, her arrival is expected to add firepower for fast finishes over the coming years.

“I am ready for a new chapter in my career,” said Kool in a press statement from her new team. “From the very first conversation with the team I had a genuinely good feeling about their mentality and the trust they placed in me. Of course, making a move halfway through the season comes with its challenges, but it feels right. I’ve been welcomed with open arms and I can’t wait to race in my new colours. This new environment gives me a lot of extra motivation.”

Picnic PostNL’s head of performance Rudi Kemna paid tribute to Kool’s contribution. “Charlotte has really developed with us over the past few years and together we’ve shared a lot of great memories and successes. We understand that she wants to take this opportunity, and maybe we will welcome her back in the future. While we wish her the very best, we look ahead with motivation and ambition. We have a strong group of women and plenty of quality to build on this season and beyond.”

Kool is expected to make her debut for Fenix-Deceuninck in the coming weeks, once she has fully recovered from her crash at the Baloise Ladies Tour earlier this summer.
