Demi Vollering (Netherlands) is likely to be the main challenger after picking up a bronze medal in the individual time trial event. Meanwhile, Kim Le Court (Mauritius) could make history in the first African edition of the road Worlds by becoming the first Elite Women’s Road Race World Champion from the continent.
The nations ranked 1-5 in the UCI world rankings are able to select 7 riders, whilst nations ranked 6-165 can choose 6 riders. Nations ranked 16-20 can enter 5 riders, and other nations and non-ranked nations can pick 3.
Consequently, 3 nations, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, will feature 7 riders, whilst defending champions Belgium will only select three riders despite the opportunity for more, but this is due to various factors, including illness, and riders choosing to skip the event.
