'Courageous' Niewiadoma joins Lidl-Trek after nine years at Canyon-SRAM
Lidl-Trek have confirmed the arrival of Kasia Niewiadoma on a two-year contract. The Pole joins after a season that saw her win atop Mont Ventoux and take second place to Demi Vollering at the Tour de France Femmes and World Championships.

Kasia Niewiadoma will ride for Lidl-Trek in 2027 after signing a two-year contract with the team.
The transfer, first reported by Daniel Benson earlier this year, brings an end to Niewiadoma’s nine-year spell at Canyon-SRAM, which included her dramatic victory at the 2024 Tour de France Femmes.
“I am super excited about the next two years,” Niewiadoma said in a statement on Tuesday. “I have spent many years on the same team and the decision to move forward and change the environment wasn’t easy until I talked to Lidl-Trek. Instantly, I felt the team had a plan, trust and belief in me. I knew that when we joined forces we could aim for the highest dreams.”
Niewiadoma was one of the 2026 season’s outstanding performers, though she endured a string of near misses across the campaign, culminating in her silver medal at the Montreal World Championships on Saturday.
The Pole also took second overall at the Tour Femmes, as well as second place at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold Race. Her lone victory of the year was a spectacular one, however, as she soloed to an emphatic triumph atop Mont Ventoux on the Tour Femmes.
“I’m looking forward to working with people and professionals who have a fresh look at my abilities and at what we can achieve together, being guided from a different perspective and just new fresh air,” said Niewiadoma.
“I’m looking forward to learning from the team, what we can improve, how we can get faster and how we can raise our hands more often when crossing the finish line.”
Manager Frank Schleck described Niewiadoma’s arrival as “a significant moment” for the Lidl-Trek women’s team.
“She is one of the most accomplished and respected riders of her generation, but what excites us most is the way she races,” Schleck said. “Kasia is courageous. She is aggressive. She is willing to take responsibility and make a race rather than simply wait for it to happen.”
Niewiadoma joins a Lidl-Trek roster that includes former world champion Elisa Balsamo, Niamh Fisher-Black and her old WM3 teammate Riejanne Markus.
