Donald Trump receives personalised bike at G7 summit as Macron promotes 2027 UCI Worlds
Donald Trump and the other leaders attending the G7 summit in France are set to leave Évian les Bains with an unusual diplomatic gift: a personalised bicycle.

French President Emmanuel Macron arranged for each of the seven leaders to receive a custom bike during the three day gathering on the shores of Lake Geneva. The gesture forms part of France's efforts to promote the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships, which will be staged across the surrounding Haute Savoie region.
UCI president David Lappartient attended the summit and revealed that personalised bicycles would be presented to all seven heads of state. The bikes were supplied by French manufacturer Look, although no further details about their specifications or individual designs have been released.
The gift provides a cycling themed link between two major international events taking place in the French Alps. Évian is hosting the G7 leaders from 15 to 17 June, bringing together representatives from France, the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. The European Union is also represented at the talks.
A little over a year later, Haute Savoie will welcome one of the largest events on the international cycling calendar. The 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships will bring together around 10,000 athletes from more than 130 countries.
Over 13 days, they will compete across 20 cycling disciplines at 12 venues, with 281 world titles at stake.
Évian itself will host the cycling esports competition, while Sallanches will provide the setting for the road races. The road circuit features the Côte de Domancy, the climb on which Bernard Hinault launched the decisive attack that carried him to the world title in 1980.
The presentation of the bikes gives Macron an opportunity to showcase both French manufacturing and the region's cycling heritage before global television audiences. It also adds a lighter sporting moment to a summit otherwise dominated by economic policy and international affairs.
Whether Trump and his fellow leaders intend to ride their new machines has not been disclosed.
Trump has a previous connection to cycling as he founded the Tour de Trump in 1989, which was a 10-day stage race, attracting a strong start list with the last edition held in 1996.
