€290 of prize money after 9 days of racing in world's biggest cycling race

At the end of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, Visma | Lease a Bike not only sealed the general classification with Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, but the Dutch team also topped the prize money standings by some distance. However, there were plenty of teams that received a staggeringly low amount for their efforts.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma | Lease a Bike) delivered a masterclass on the final weekend of the Tour de France Femmes to win the yellow jersey alongside two stages, and this played a major role in the Dutch team topping the prize money standings. The race started on a perfect note for the team when Marianne Vos sprinted to victory on the opening stage to take the yellow jersey, with Ferrand-Prévot finishing 2nd on the day.

Consequently, Visma | Lease a Bike collected €76,190 for their efforts throughout the race, but that is only around 10% of what UAE Team Emirates-XRG earned for their exploits across three weeks of racing in France with a dominant Tadej Pogačar and co (€701,280), with a 12-stage difference between the length of each race.

Naturally, this adds up as the total prize pool for the Tour de France Femmes is €264,152, which is about 10% of the men's tally of €2.3 million, but it's a significant difference nonetheless. To see a comparison of what prize money the men's teams earned from the Tour de France, click here.

Courtesy of their podium position via Demi Vollering, Juliette Labous and Evita Muzic's top 10 finishes, as well as Elise Chabbey's mountains classification success and winning the team prize, FDJ-Suez ended the Tour 2nd in the prize money table on €53,810.

Tour de France Femmes prize money

The 2025 Tour de France Femmes offered a total prize pool of €264,152, spread across all aspects of the race - from the overall standings and stage victories, to the jersey classifications, team rankings and daily awards. The overall winner, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, received €50,000 for winning the general classification, which is 10% of the €500,000 that Tadej Pogačar earned for sealing the yellow jersey in the men's race. Each stage win pocketed the riders €4,000, with the daily yellow jersey wearer collecting a €100 bonus each day.

Maeva Squiban was the breakout star of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, winning back-to-back stages, and Dominika Włodarczyk burst onto the scene as a bona fide GC contender, finishing 4th overall, and these performances significantly contributed to the €25,630 that UAE Team ADQ picked up for the efforts.

It was also an amazing race for Belgian outfit AG Insurance Soudal, who lost out on the podium on the final stage with Sarah Gigante who slipped to 6th overall, but Kim Le Court's stage win and stint in yellow helped contribute to €22,450 and fourth in the prize money standings which is made even more impressive by the fact they only joined the WorldTour at the start of 2024.

For the defending champion Kasia Niewiadoma, the Polish champion's third place finish on GC helped contribute to the €15.320 that the Canyon//Sram zondacrypto team claimed.

But beyond the top tier, the prize money figures quickly drop. Seven teams earned less than €1,000 across the entire race. Winspace Orange Seal received just a measly €290, followed by Laboral Kutxa (€310) and Roland Le Dévoluy (€320). Nine days of racing, and the reward barely covers a hotel bill.

Considering each team lined up with 7 riders alone, plus all the important staff, to receive a total prize money tally that low after nine brutal stages in the biggest bike race in the Women's peloton is extremely low. For comparison, Cofidis were the lowest earners at the men's Tour de France, taking home a total of €15,510.

The total prize purse for the Tour de France Femmes stood at €259.430, distributed across 22 teams.
