Guardeño transferred to specialised rehabilitation clinic after serious training crash
Caja Rural-Seguros RGA have confirmed that Jaume Guardeño has been transferred to a specialised rehabilitation clinic following a serious training crash on 31 March.

The 23-year-old cyclist had been in intensive care at the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell after a collision with a vehicle, which required him to be airlifted from the scene. The team shared the official update as he moves into the next phase of his recovery.
“Jaume Guardeño has been transferred in the last few hours to the Guttmann Clinic in Barcelona, a reference centre specialising in neurorehabilitation and treatment of serious neurological injuries,” confirmed Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in an official statement.
“The cyclist from Alicante sustained serious injuries following a training accident on March 31 and will now be treated by the specialised medical team at the Guttmann Clinic,” added the statement.
The accident occurred just days after Guardeño completed the Volta a Catalunya, where he finished 29th overall.
It was Guardeño's latest strong performance since stepping up from the Caja Rural development team to the senior squad full-time at the start of 2024.
He had already illustrated his climbing potential last September by finishing 14th overall at the Vuelta a España, just one position behind teammate Abel Balderstone.
“Caja Rural-Seguros RGA continues to fully support Jaume, his family, and friends during this difficult time. On behalf of the team and the family, we would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the medical staff,” read the statement.
"On behalf of both the team and the family, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the exceptional care received during the transfer in the Servimedic ambulance, as well as for all the attention given at the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell."
