'I'm behind every decision, so it definitely feels partly my project' - Pidcock refreshed at Q36.5

Tom Pidcock reveals that his move to ProTour outfit Q36.5 Pro Cycling has given him greater involvement in team decisions, as he targets future Grand Tour success following his 2025 Vuelta a España podium finish, an achievement few would have predicted.

The multi-discipline star’s transfer to Q36.5 has been compared to Peter Sagan’s move from Tinkoff to Bora-Hansgrohe for the 2017 season by journalist Maurizio Fondriest, highlighting how Pidcock is helping to shape his new team’s direction. The switch coincides with Q36.5’s transition to Pinarello bikes for the 2026 season, a brand Pidcock knows well from his time at Ineos, where many of his career-defining results came aboard those bikes.

“I feel very involved with the team in general, not just on the sporting side but also in making decisions and helping the team grow,” Pidcock said. “That really excites me because I’m behind every decision, so it definitely feels partly my project,” the Olympic MTB champion told La Gazzetta della Sport.

Pidcock has cemented his reputation as cycling’s ultimate all-rounder, claiming victories across cyclocross, mountain bike, road racing and now gravel disciplines. He recently competed in a night gravel event despite having no prior course reconnaissance.

“The first lap in the pitch black was a little bit of guesswork,” he admitted.

When asked about his preferred discipline, Pidcock was pretty clear about his personal favourite.

“Mountain bike I have the most enjoyment for sure. It’s just a nice environment, relaxed, and an enjoyable place to race and perform,” he said. “I think I naturally have the most talent on mountain bike so it’s obviously easier.”

Despite his mountain bike preference, Pidcock’s road racing credentials continue to grow. He secured third place at this year’s Vuelta a España, boosting his Grand Tour ambitions after it simply appeared improbable that he would do such a feat at Ineos, but Pidcock will be looking at how he can better that heading into the 2026 season.

“The Grand Tour is not the thing I enjoy the most but it’s certainly the biggest challenge for me in any discipline,” Pidcock explained. “I definitely want to continue with that challenge because the nicest thing is to have challenges and try to achieve them. After the podium I believe more and more.”

Away from cycling, Pidcock maintains simple hobbies that provide balance to his professional life.

“I like cars, traveling, and I go camping sometimes at home,” he said. “I enjoy doing the little things in life that I don’t get to do while focused on cycling.”
