Ineos Grenadiers jersey to feature TotalEnergies logo at Tour de France

The French petrochemicals company will continue as title sponsor of Jean-René Bernaudeau’s TotalEnergies squad into 2026 while joining Ineos as a sub-sponsor. The deal adheres to UCI rules as TotalEnergies will not form part of the team name.

TotalEnergies will appear as a sub-sponsor on the Ineos Grenadiers jersey at the Tour de France as part of a deal that will boost the British team’s budget in the coming seasons. The deal was reported by L’Équipe on Thursday.

The French petrochemicals company has confirmed that it will also continue its backing of Jean-René Bernaudeau’s TotalEnergies squad into the 2026 season.

UCI regulations do not allow teams with the same title sponsor to compete in the same race, which prevents TotalEnergies from becoming a named sponsor of the Ineos squad. They will instead serve as a jersey sponsor, much as Red Bull features on the Tudor Pro Cycling jersey while operating as the title sponsor of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe.

The Times had speculated in May that a merger between Ineos Grenadiers and TotalEnergies was imminent, but TotalEnergies president Patrick Pouyanné signalled on Thursday that the teams will remain as two separate entities next season.

“We are happy that Team TotalEnergies has been invited to take part in the 2025 Tour and we hope to relive the same emotion than when Anthony Turgis won a stage last year,” Pouyanné said in a statement on Thursday. “As it has been since 2016, TotalEnergies will stand by Jean-René Bernaudeau's team, to whom we have already confirmed our support for the 2026 season and our intent to engage discussions for 2027 after the Tour de France.”

The Ineos and TotalEnergies petrochemical companies have already been engaged in a business partnership in Saudi Arabia. Last year, Ineos purchased TotalEnergies’ petrochemical assets in the south of France.

“Building on the strong existing industrial relationship between Ineos and TotalEnergies, on a global scale, and in particular in the framework of the Amiral project in Saudi Arabia, TotalEnergies has finalized a sponsorship deal for the Ineos Grenadiers’ jersey, starting at this year’s Tour de France,” read the statement from the TotalEnergies company.

“TotalEnergies confirms that its agreements with these two cycling teams are strictly commercial and exclude any influence and/or interference in sporting matters and race strategies. The Company is implementing internal rules to ensure this separation and the full independence of both teams. A principle the UCI will monitor in accordance with its regulation.”

On Thursday, TotalEnergies also announced that it has reached an agreement to become an official partner of both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes for an initial duration of three years, starting from 2026.

Ineos Grenadiers are expected to present their new jersey early next week ahead of the Tour de France. Carlos Rodríguez will lead the squad in July, with Filippo Ganna and 2018 winner Geraint Thomas also expected to feature in the line-up.
