Isaac del Toro equals Remco Evenepoel milestone with Tirreno victory at just 22

Isaac del Toro’s overall win at Tirreno-Adriatico marked another breakthrough moment in the young Mexican’s career. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider continues to build one of the most impressive palmarès of his generation. With the victory in Italy, Del Toro has now reached the same number of professional wins that Remco Evenepoel had at the age of 22 years and 108 days.

Isaac del Toro claimed his first professional victory at the age of 20 during the Tour Down Under in Australia. Later that season in 2024, he added two more wins to his tally.

His real breakthrough came in 2025, when the Mexican rider enjoyed a remarkable campaign with no fewer than 18 victories. Two of those wins were his Mexican national titles in November, which officially count towards the 2026 season.

Del Toro has continued that momentum this year. He has already taken five victories, including two stage wins and the overall title at the UAE Tour, as well as a stage victory and the general classification at Tirreno Adriatico.

That brings his career total to 26 professional wins at the age of 22 years and 108 days, matching the milestone reached by Remco Evenepoel at the same age.

The Belgian prodigy claimed his first professional victory in June 2019, when he won stage two of the Baloise Belgium Tour at just 19 years old. In his debut season, Evenepoel went on to secure four victories, including a breakthrough triumph at the Clásica San Sebastián.

What about Tadej Pogačar? At the same age, the Slovenian had collected 17 professional victories. While that number is noticeably lower, the nature of those wins tells a different story. Where Del Toro and Evenepoel had already secured impressive victories in major races, Pogačar had already claimed the Tour de France and no fewer than six stage wins in Grand Tours.

The early victories of both Remco Evenepoel and Tadej Pogačar proved to be a sign of what was to come.

Evenepoel has since expanded that tally to 73 professional victories at the age of 26, building one of the most impressive palmarès in modern cycling.

The Belgian won the Vuelta a España in 2022 and has claimed two Monument victories, winning Liège Bastogne Liège in both 2022 and 2023. He is also a multiple world champion and Olympic champion, winning the road race world title in 2022 and the time trial world title in multiple years, before adding Olympic gold medals in both the road race and the time trial at the Paris 2024 Games.

The palmarès of Tadej Pogačar is even more impressive, with no fewer than 113 wins at the age of 27, including six Grand Tour victories (five Tour de France and one Giro d’Italia) and 10 Monument wins (five Il Lombardia, three Liège-Bastogne-Liège and two Tour of Flanders). In addition, Pogačar became road world champion in both 2024 and 2025.

How far the star of Isaac Del Toro can rise is unknown at this point, but two things are certain. With his explosiveness he possesses a weapon that can bring him many more victories, and at UAE he finds himself in a team that can fully support and maximise these qualities.
