Junior World Champion fractures back after motorcyclist rides wrong side of road
Lidl-Trek development rider Harry Hudson is recovering at home after a serious training crash in Girona left him with a compression fracture in his T8 vertebra.

Hudson confirmed the news on social media this week, sharing details of the crash and thanking those who helped him in the aftermath.
“Just over a week ago while training in Girona I was hit on a descent by a motorbike and had a pretty scary crash. After 24 hours in hospital I was released, unfortunately I have suffered a compression fracture in my T8 vertebra. I’m now at home recovering. This week’s been pretty rough but the support and help I’ve received from Lidl-Trek and Trinity Sports Management, as well as other cyclists on the road immediately after the crash, has been incredible,” Hudson wrote on Instagram.
Hudson’s brother Finley provided further details on social media, saying the collision had been unavoidable for the rider.
“The motorcyclist was riding on the wrong side of the road and hit Harry head-on,” he wrote.
Other cyclists in the area were able to provide immediate assistance before Hudson was taken to the nearest hospital by the emergency services.
Hudson has emerged as one of the standout British riders of his generation. Last season, he won the junior men’s road race world title, as well as the junior edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. In 2026, he has been racing as a first-year U23 rider within Lidl-Trek’s development structure.
Lidl-Trek and Trinity Sports Management will now support Hudson through his recovery. No timeline has been confirmed for his return to racing.
