Leader switch drama at O Gran Camiño as Pinarello handed yellow after review
Confusion reigned after stage three of O Gran Camiño, where Jørgen Nordhagen was initially presented as the new race leader, only for officials to reverse the decision well after the finish and award the jersey to Alessandro Pinarello (NSN Cycling Team).

The Visma | Lease a Bike rider had already stepped onto the podium and pulled on the yellow jersey following a tightly contested stage, where bonus seconds at the finish and intermediate sprints proved decisive. Early calculations indicated he had taken the overall lead by two seconds.
That version of the standings held for more than an hour after the finish, before organisers revisited the results. In a statement, they explained:
“The narrow differences led to a thorough review of the times of both riders and the bonus seconds gained during the stage, resulting in Alessandro Pinarello as the overall leader. The NSN rider will wear yellow tomorrow.”
Following the recalculation, both riders were placed on the same overall time. The general classification was then decided by the sum of stage placings, which favoured Pinarello.
The late revision brought an abrupt end to Nordhagen’s brief spell in what he believed was his first leader’s jersey at professional level.
Visma | Lease a Bike were not overly concerned by the jury’s decision. "That works in our favour, because now the ball is in NSN's court", sports director Robert Wagner said on the website of the team. "Tomorrow’s stage is so gruelling that there will undoubtedly be a gap of several seconds. Jørgen is in a strong position and showed today that he can keep up with the best on the climb. That’s a good sign."
