Lidl-Trek provides positive medical update on crashed Juan Ayuso
Lidl-Trek has shared a positive medical update on Juan Ayuso after the Spaniard’s heavy crash during stage 4 of Paris–Nice, confirming that the 23-year-old did not suffer any fractures.

Ayuso, who started the day in the yellow jersey, crashed with 47 kilometres remaining on the rain soaked stage to Uchon. After briefly attempting to remount his bike and appearing to be in pain, he was forced to abandon the race and was later transported to hospital for further medical evaluation.
Following a series of examinations, Lidl-Trek confirmed that Ayuso had not sustained any fractures.
“Fortunately, X-rays performed at the hospital in France did not reveal any fractures for Ayuso. A further clinical assessment carried out by the team doctor at the team hotel also ruled out any other serious injuries. Juan will continue to be monitored by the team’s medical staff, and another update will be provided if necessary. Juan would like to express his disappointment at leaving the team at Paris–Nice and will now support his teammates from home. Vamos,” the team said in an statement.
Ayuso had taken the overall race lead after helping Lidl-Trek secure second place in Tuesday’s team time trial. The Spaniard was positioned in the front echelon when the crash occurred on a slippery corner during a stage marked by heavy rain and strong winds.
Lidl-Trek has not announced a timeline for his recovery or any potential impact on his race schedule.
