Lidl-Trek strengthen climbing unit with two-time Tour de France top 10 finisher

The 27-year-old will join Lidl Trek from TotalEnergies and has signed through the end of 2029, becoming the team's first confirmed new arrival for the 2027 season.

Jegat arrives with two consecutive top 10 finishes at the Tour de France on his résumé. After breaking through with tenth overall in 2025, he matched that result this summer, underlining his ability to remain competitive across three weeks.

His 2026 season also brought another important milestone. Jegat took the first professional victory of his career at the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs, bouncing back from a difficult winter.

For Lidl-Trek, his arrival adds another proven climber to a squad whose ambitions in the Grand Tours continue to grow.

“Jordan has demonstrated a lot of qualities that have impressed us: consistency across three weeks, strong climbing and a smart racing instinct,” Lidl-Trek CEO Andy Schleck said in a statement by the team."

“His two top 10 results in the Tour de France confirm his ability, but we think we can unlock even more from him at Lidl-Trek.”

The move represents another significant step in what has been a relatively late rise through professional cycling for Jegat.

He was still racing at Continental level with CIC U Nantes Atlantique in 2023 before joining TotalEnergies a year later. His first Tour de France in 2024 ended with 28th place overall, before he made the jump into the top 10 the following season.

Repeating that result in 2026 strengthened his position on the transfer market and gave Lidl-Trek further evidence that the first result was no outlier.

Jegat believes there is still more to come.

“I hope to keep improving, keep learning and reach my full potential over the coming years,” he said. “I won my first race this year, and I want to win again.”

Jegat is also keen to broaden his Grand Tour experience. He has yet to race either the Giro d’Italia or the Vuelta a España, two races he hopes to add to his programme after joining Lidl-Trek.

“I’m looking forward to discovering the Vuelta and the Giro, and to confirming my place at WorldTour level,” he said. “I want to keep progressing and aim for even better results.”

The move also gives Jegat clarity at a time when the future of TotalEnergies remains unresolved. The French energy company will end its title sponsorship after the 2026 season, with team manager Jean René Bernaudeau still searching for a new main partner to keep the team going beyond this year.

Lidl-Trek, meanwhile, appears to be strengthening its climbing group significantly for 2027. Jegat could be joined by Felix Gall and Gregor Mühlberger, who have both been heavily linked with moves from Decathlon CMA CGM. Austrian broadcaster ORF reported in July that agreements had been reached with both riders.

UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider Igor Arrieta has also been linked with Lidl-Trek, with reports in Belgium suggesting an agreement is already in place.

None of those moves has yet been officially announced, but the links point to a significant strengthening of Lidl-Trek’s Grand Tour roster for 2027, with Jegat the first new arrival to be confirmed.
