Mathieu van der Poel announces first child due in January 2027
Mathieu van der Poel and his partner Roxanne Bertels have announced that they are expecting their first child in January 2027.

The Alpecin-Premier Tech rider shared the news on Instagram on Monday, posting a photograph alongside the caption: “BÉBÉ VDP, January 2027.”
Van der Poel and Bertels have been together since 2018 after meeting at a Porsche event in Finland. The couple have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye.
The announcement comes just days before the start of the 2026 Tour de France in Barcelona. Van der Poel is set to line up alongside Jasper Philipsen as Alpecin-Premier Tech targets stage victories throughout the three week race.
The Dutchman is also hoping to wear the yellow jersey again, with the second stage into Barcelona offering an early opportunity. He enters the Tour without pressure, describing any further success in his already decorated career as a bonus.
The 31-year-old Dutchman is a winner of eight Monuments and an eight time cyclocross world champion.
