Matteo Moschetti sprints to success in Vuelta a Burgos stage 2

Matteo Moschetti (Q36.5) pipped fellow compatriot Matteo Malucelli (XDS-Astana) in a tightly contested sprint in Buniel.

Matteo Moschetti won the second stage of the Vuelta Burgos in a photo finish with fellow Italian, Matteo Malucelli, who finished second, in the town of Buniel on Wednesday, with Juan Sebastián Molano rounding up the podium in third. 

The stage covered 161.6 kilometres with the breakaway of the day consisting of 4 Spanish riders, Pau Llaneras, Txomin, Iker Mintegi and Ander Okamika. 

The breakaway fell apart in the final third of the stage, with the sole survivor, Okamika, caught with 8.2 kilometres to go. The finale was then led home by the Swiss outfit of Q36.5 who dually delivered on their excellent lead-out to set up their sprinter Moschetti for the glory on the day.
