Milan's return anchors Lidl-Trek's strong Giro line-up
Lidl-Trek have announced their well-rounded line-up for the Giro d’Italia with both a GC and stage win focus.

The team is spearheaded by Jonathan Milan, who returns to the Italian Grand Tour after a year's absence. Last year, Milan opted to make his Tour de France debut, which proved to be a successful decision, winning two stages and the points classification.
The Italian has won four Giro stages and the points classification twice in two participations at the race in 2023 and 2024.
Milan has scored six victories so far in 2026, and will be one of the favourites for the sprint stages and points classification at this year’s Giro.
From a GC perspective, the team features Derek Gee-West, who finished 4th last year. It will mark the first Grand Tour for the Canadian champion in the colours of Lidl-Trek, who most recently finished 12th at the Tour of the Alps.
Meanwhile, another elite climber who features is former three-time stage and mountains classification winner Giulio Ciccone. So far in 2026, the Italian has finished 6th at Tirreno-Adriatico, won the mountains classification at the Volta a Catalunya and ended 20th at Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
Milan’s right-hand man, Simone Consonni, will unsurprisingly line up alongside the Italian sprinter. Consonni has been an integral part of Milan’s success over the years, and the 31-year-old Italian could be crucial once more.
Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier is set to make his sixth start at the Giro, in what will be a milestone tenth Grand Tour for the Eritrean, and former stage winner Matteo Sobrero will line up for his fourth Giro.
One rider who will make his Grand Tour debut is 23-year-old German sprinter Tim Torn Teutenberg, who will form a key part of Milan’s lead-out. Another German involved will be Max Walscheid, who has raced the Giro twice, back in 2021 and 2024.
Lidl-Trek scored six stage wins in the 2025 Giro d'Italia, the most of any team. Mads Pedersen won four stages and enjoyed a stint in the maglia rosa, while there was a time trial victory for Daan Hoole and a breakaway success for Carlos Verona.
