'Never a question of if, but when': Magnus Sheffield makes Uno-X switch with Norwegian roots
The Netcompany-Ineos rider will join Uno-X Mobility from 2027 on a four-year contract, with family ties to Norway and a connection to the team dating back to his junior days.

Magnus Sheffield has signed with Uno-X Mobility for 2027 on a four-year deal with the Norwegian team that will run through 2030, bringing to an end a half-decade spell with Netcompany-Ineos.
The 24-year-old has strong ties to Norway, something Uno-X highlighted by using his full name, Magnus Bratli Sheffield, in announcing the move.
Sheffield holds both Norwegian and US passports, as well as being able to speak the language, making the move a no-brainer.
“My mum grew up in Gjøvik, and most of our family now lives around Oslo. She moved to the US to study when she was 20, and that’s where she met my dad. We always spoke Norwegian at home. It was almost our secret family language growing up in the US,” explained Sheffield in the official Uno-X Mobility statement.
Sheffield’s connection with Uno-X extends back to his junior days, when he won bronze in the junior men’s road race at the World Championships in Harrogate in 2019, revealing that he had already spoken with the Norwegian team.
“After I won bronze at the junior World Championships, someone asked me in the press conference if it could count as a medal for Norway as well. I said: ‘This is a medal for both Norway and the US,” Sheffield said.
“I spoke with Uno-X when I was a junior, and I’ve always felt that it was never really a question of if I would ride for the team, but when.”
Since joining Netcompany-Ineos in 2022, Sheffield has won four times for the British team. His victories include De Brabantse Pijl, a stage of the Ruta del Sol and the PostNord Danmark Rundt in 2022, before his most recent triumph on stage 8 of Paris-Nice in 2025.
“Magnus is a rider with enormous potential, and I don’t think we have seen the full extent of it yet. He has already finished fourth in Paris-Nice and sixth in Flanders. That tells you a lot about the range he has,” said Uno-X Mobility General Manager Thor Hushovd.
Sheffield’s departure from Ineos ahead of the 2027 season follows that of his compatriots Andrew August, who has signed for Pinarello-Q36.5, and Artem Shmidt, who has completed a move to NSN.
Ben Turner will also leave the team, having signed for Soudal Quick-Step, while Bob Jungels and Ben Swift have both announced their retirements.
Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport has also reported that Filippo Ganna could leave the British team at the end of this season and join Lidl-Trek for 2027.
Speaking to Oggi Sport Notizie before the start of the Coppa Bernocchi on Tuesday, the Italian said: "For now I'm at Netcompany-Ineos. Next year we'll see…"
