Onboard footage shows Vingegaard’s hard Vuelta crash
Jonas Vingegaard struck a double blow on Sunday in Limone Piemonte, winning the stage and seizing the red jersey. Yet the second stage of the Vuelta did not unfold as the Dane might have wished. In the run-in to the final climb he was caught up in a mass crash on a wet roundabout.

The Vuelta’s onboard cameras caught it all from within the bunch: Vingegaard sliding helplessly across the asphalt, Tom Pidcock swerving at the last instant to avoid a lamp post, and the peloton briefly undone by the elements.
Vingegaard was able to remount quickly and later played down the damage, but the close-up footage underlines the violent nature of the fall.
