The UCI have named the men's and women's that have registered for WorldTour and ProTeam status for 2027, with Picnic PostNL and Jayco AlUla surprisingly absent from the list.

Teams that did not submit all the essential documents by the October 15 deadline can still register for 2027 but face a race against time and significant fines for late or incorrect information.

Under UCI regulations, riders from the team in question may now terminate their contracts early and move to other teams but it remains to be seen if any riders will take up this opportunity and move to another team.

Picnic PostNL and Jayco AlUla face uncertainty

Both the men's and women's Picnic PostNL teams are absent from the published lists, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the Dutch organisation's future.

Picnic PostNL were given one-year WorldTour licences for 2026, rather than licences covering the full 2026 to 2028 period. Extensions for 2027 and 2028 were made conditional on meeting financial requirements set by the UCI Licence Commission.

The team have reportedly accumulated increasing debts in recent years, with a number of key riders and staff leaving. The organisation has maintained that it is working to secure its future and continue racing at WorldTour level in 2027.

Picnic PostNL have also come under scrutiny following allegations of a toxic working environment in a recent investigation by broadcaster NOS and In de Waaier. The team have said they do not recognise themselves in the overall picture presented and have commissioned an independent investigation.

Jayco AlUla and Liv AlUla Jayco are also missing from the respective men's and women's WorldTour lists.

The Australian organisation faced a similar situation last year, when both teams were absent from the initial UCI registration list due to paperwork issues involving bank guarantees. Those issues were subsequently resolved and both teams were awarded WorldTour licences for 2026.

The UCI has not specified which documents are missing from the applications or given reasons for the absence of individual teams.

EF Education-EasyPost, meanwhile, are included on the men's WorldTour list despite looking for a new title sponsor to boost their budget. The American team recently reached a deal to release team leader Richard Carapaz, who moved to NSN.

ProTeams missing

Equipo Kern Pharma, Euskaltel-Euskadi, Flanders-Baloise and TotalEnergies are missing from the ProTeam lists.

Euskaltel recently secured a 28th-place finish in the UCI team rankings, opening the door for possible wildcard invitations to Grand Tours in 2027.

Meanwhile, TotalEnergies manager Jean-René Bernaudeau has vowed that the French side will be at the start of the 2027 Tour de France despite not yet securing a new title sponsor.

Flanders-Baloise had already confirmed that they were set to cease operations at the end of 2026, while Equipo Kern Pharma's situation was less clear. It was confirmed in March that Kern Pharma would end their seven-year sponsorship of the Spanish team at the end of this season.

UCI to announce final registrations in December

Teams had until October 15 to submit their registration files, bank guarantee, key staff names, financial accounts for the year and a financial plan for the year to come. 10 signed rider contracts must also be submitted on October 15, with 15 rider contracts submitted by November 1 and at least 27 no later than December 1.

The UCI will now study each team application with asistance from external audit firm PwC, considering key ethical, financial, and administrative criteria. Sporting criteria and the UCI ranking points scored during 2026 is also a key factor and will decide which ProTeams secure automatic invitations to the 2027 WorldTour races and wild card invitations to the Grand Tours.

November 1 is a final deadline for submitting essential documents. The UCI Licence Commission offers a final chance of appeal. WorldTour teams that are refused registration are then considered for ProTeam status.

The UCI will publish the final list of teams registered for the 2027 season at the end of the registration procedure on 8 December.
