Pogacar and UAE lead Tour de France prize money standings after opening week

After nine stages of the 2026 Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar and UAE Team Emirates-XRG lead the way not only in the race for the yellow jersey, but also in terms of prize money won.

The 2026 Tour de France has reached its first rest day, with Tadej Pogačar and UAE sitting at the top of the prize money standings.

The world champion has won two stages and currently leads both the general classification and the mountains classification, contributing significantly to his prize money total of €40,940. Meanwhile, Isaac del Toro of UAE claimed victory on stage 2 in Barcelona. The Mexican champion also leads the youth classification and has earned €17,990, meaning the Emirati team have already collected a total of €71,780.

Thanks to two consecutive sprint stage victories, Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick Step has earned the second highest amount of prize money behind Pogačar. The Belgian has collected €24,800, while Mads Pedersen of Lidl Trek, who won stage 4 and leads the points classification, sits third with €21,630.

Stage 5 winner Olav Kooij of Decathlon CMA CGM also features among the top five individuals, with €14,800. Jonas Vingegaard of Visma | Lease a Bike, stage 9 winner Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin Premier Tech, breakaway entertainer Baptiste Veistroffer of Lotto-Intermarché, and sprinters Biniam Girmay of NSN and Max Kanter of XDS Astana also feature in the top ten.

In the team standings, UAE lead with €71,780, nearly double the €38,720 earned by Lidl-Trek and more than twice the total of every other team. Visma | Lease a Bike, Soudal Quick Step, Decathlon CMA CGM and Alpecin-Premier Tech have all won stages and earned more than €20,000 each.

Meanwhile, Tudor prop up the team rankings, having earned €2,320 across the first nine stages.
